Puppy Kindergarten is specifically designed for puppies during the crucial socialization period of 6-16 weeks. The American Veterinarian Association has determined that it is best for puppies to be socialized when they have had 2 out of the 3 puppy vaccines.
Kindergarten will give your puppy a great start in the world by working on confidence-building, development, manners and puppy socialization. Fun and positive reinforcement, including verbal praise and treats, are the focus as you introduce your puppy to basic dog skills such as sit, down, come and stay. In addition, class exercises are structured to help build self-control and learning skills in your puppy.
At the start of the session, puppies should be between the ages of 9 weeks to 4 months for most breeds. Exceptions may be made for older puppies smaller than 10 pounds.
You can start immediately! We do require that your puppy has been in your home for at least 7 days, has received the first set of vaccines, and has a clean fecal test result. Puppy classes are for puppies 8 weeks to 4 months of age.
The primary reason for dogs landing in shelters and euthanized is unsocial behavior.
Don't let that happen to your puppy!
Puppy Kindergarten Classes are one hour long and are broken into two segments. We start with, puppies get to meet and play with their classmates while supervised by behavior experts! Puppies play first to burn off their energy which creates a more focused dog for the 2nd half of the hour.
During puppy playtime, our trainer is discussing the main issues surrounding puppyhood with the Puppy Parents.
Topics include:
The second half of the hour involves building confidence through obstacle courses and obedience exercises. Your puppy will enjoy this stimulating time while he is gaining confidence and learning how to communicate and understand you better.
